ZOLA MARLENE CASSITY-CARPENTER Graveside inurnment services for longtime Cortez resident Zola Marlene Cassity-Carpenter will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at Cortez Cemetery. Marlene was born September 11, 1953 in Cortez the daughter of Raymond and Ruby Luetta (Ayers) Cassity. She passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 63. Marlene enjoyed desert gardening and raising house plants. She was a wonderful cook that liked sharing meals with her family. Surviving Marlene are her children, Jason Maez of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edward Maez of Las Vegas, Nev., Maria Maez and Leah Maez of Cortez; her grandchildren, Kira and Archer of Cortez; and by her siblings, Ray Cassity of Cortez, Paul Cassity of Okinawa, Japan, and Troy Trone of Cortez. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Red Carpenter; and by her brother, Phillip Cassity.
