Zoa Ann Donohue, of Dolores, CO, was born January 2, 1928 in Santee CA, the daughter of Dudley Dale and Ida J. (Guffey) Strickler, where she enjoyed her childhood along with her brother, Clyde. She passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, CO at the age of 92.
Zoa Ann married Emmett Rockwell Donohue August 30, 1948. Emmett and Zoa Ann built a house and raised avocados in Fallbrook, CA until Emmett was transferred to Julian, CA with the California Division Forestry in 1955. They raised their family and were an active part of the community until Emmett's retirement in 1978. They then moved to Silverton, CO where they remodeled an old house and lived for three years. Their next adventure was to remodel their home in Dolores, CO were they lived their last 40 years. After Emmett's retirement they traveled in their trailer going to garage sales across the different states.
Zoa Ann enjoyed being a homemaker. She sewed for her girls and enjoyed crafts. She was known for her potholders and the apple dolls she created and sold at craft shows. She also enjoyed her Smokey Bear and John Wayne collections. Zoa Ann loved to read mysteries, a love she shared with her youngest daughter, daughter in law and niece. She always had a jig saw puzzle going, and loved watching rodeos and football. Her best friend was the telephone and the people on the other end.
