Zachary Neal McKensley

Celebration Of Life services for Towaoc resident Zachary Neal McKensley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Appertizers and drinks will be available during celebration.

Zachary Neal McKensley was born on March 31, 1986 in Shiprock, New Mexico, the son of Neilson McKensley and Shelley Eyetoo. Zachary passed away on May 07, at the age of 38.

Zac had many strengths and one of them was being creative, whether it was cooking, dress making, fabricated creations, writing poems, drawing, designing home interiors and beading. Zac also had a strong interest in music and that was his ultra-coping mechanism. Zac was gifted in ways, especially in language arts and he was able to express himself in his own way. Zac cared for any injustice especially to the elderly and the LGBT community. Zac educated himself and received degrees in culinary and cosmetology. One of Zac’s interesting career paths was working with Clinique, a very high-end makeup industry for which he was very proud. Zac specialized as an esthetician and was the Clinique Counter Manager. Zac often mentioned he loved making people beautiful and made them feel it too. One of his highlighted skills was making something ordinary into something extraordinary special. As his late niece Kyrie McKensley, said it best, “Zac can make it bedazzle.” Zac had many friends who describe his character as a person who was very intelligent, had great fashion sense, he was quick-witted and caring.

Surviving Zac are his parents Neilson McKensley of Shiprock, NM. his mother, Shelley Eyetoo of Towaoc, CO. Fraternal aunts; Marilyn McKensley, Michelle McKensley and Marianette McKensley of Shiprock, New Mexico; his half-brother Rayander Summa of Shiprock, New Mexico, his cousins; Autumn McKensley and Sophia Jim also of Shiprock, New Mexico.
