YOLANDA MARIE MARTINEZ Funeral Mass for Cortez resident Yolanda Marie Martinez will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 13 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 12 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. The daughter of Antonio Valdez and Mary Clotilde (Maestas) Lobato, Yolanda was born on August 9, 1939 at McPhee, Colo. She passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at San Juan Regional Hospital in Farmington, N.M. at the age of 69. Yolanda attended and graduated from Cortez High School. On August 15, 1958, she married Johnny Paul Martinez in Aztec, N.M. Yolanda loved to play Bingo and she enjoyed time spent gambling. Surviving Yolanda are her sons, Johnny S. Martinez and wife, Juanita of Richmond, Ind., Raymond A. Martinez and wife, Vera of Fountain, Colo., Bobby A. Martinez and wife, Reina of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Paul K. Martinez wife, Ihlea of Walkerville, Md.; her grandchildren, Rachel Martinez, Zachary Martinez, Samantha Martinez, and Gregory Martinez; and her great-grandson, Jacob Barber. Yolanda also leaves behind her siblings, Elsie Starken and husband, Ray of Davenport, Iowa, Jennie Cavazos and husband, Carlos of Yuma, Ariz., Teo Yowell of Farmington, N.M., Orlando Lobato and wife, Genia of San Jose, Calif., Ray Lobato of Cortez, Patsy Archibeque and husband, Johnny of Cortez, Gloria Gladfelter and husband, Bill of Yuma, Ariz., and Tony Lobato and wife, Anna of Durango; step-brothers and sisters, Tony Lobato, Alex Lobato, Freddie Lobato, Alice Lobato, Verna Lobato, Margo Lobato, Bernice Lobato, and Helen Lobato; and her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lobato of Cortez,. Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny Martinez in 1996; her brothers, Charlie Lobato and Benny Lobato; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Yowell; her sister-in-law, Ina Lobato; and her half-sister, Lillie Welch.
