WYONA MARIE LEWIS Graveside services for lifelong Cortez resident Wyona Marie Lewis will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 3 at Cortez Cemetery. Wyona was born on June 28, 1919 in McElmo, Colo. the daughter of Benjamin Howard and Jesse Katherine (Doiel) Taylor. She passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Wyona was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary of Bayfield. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Wyona’s family was very important to her. She enjoyed time spent in her rock garden and she had a great appreciation for Navajo sand paintings. Surviving Wyona are four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by three husbands; by her children, Howard Leon Hogue, Harry Edward Hogue, Katherine Adelia Hogue, and Harold Russell Hogue; by two brothers; by one grandson; and one great-grandson. Memorial contributions may be made in Wyona’s name to the American Cancer Society.
