Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Wilson Hamlin will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Friday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Wilson Hamlin was born to Joe Hamlin and Eva Mills on May 28, 1942 in Towaoc, CO. He passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, CO at the age of 74 years old. Wilson is survived by his wife Wanda Jacket of Towaoc and daughters; Sonya (Hank Lefthand), Loia (Selwyn Whiteskunk), Charlotte Hamlin of Towaoc and Ellen (Paul Gurule) of Rio Rancho, NM. Sons; Chad Hamlin (Etta) and Roger Wing of Towaoc. Wilson is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives. Wilson was proceeded in death by his father Joe Hamlin and mother Eva Mills; his sister Evalina Mills, his brothers; Billy Lopez, Leroy Hatch, Louis Hatch and Calvern Hamlin; his daughters Kathy Hamlin, Kathy Ann Hamlin and Cheryl Hamlin. During his younger years, Wilson was very athletic, his main passion was playing basketball and coaching children. Wilson worked all his life mainly in construction as an equipment operator for over 23 years. After retiring from construction, he went to work for the Farm & Ranch Enterprise and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Resource Department. Wilson and Wanda spent many years together working side by side working their cattle, they enjoyed the company of their family especially their grandchildren. Wilson had a great sense of humor always telling jokes and stories.
