WILLIAM EUGENE "BILL" WEAVER Funeral services for Cortez resident and longtime Dove Creek resident William Eugene "Bill" Weaver will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at the Montelores Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Cahone Cemetery. Raymond Boyd will officiate. Bill was born on August 4, 1932 in Hoxie, Kan. the son of George Albert and Neva Trudy (English) Weaver. He passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at his residence at the age of 75. On May 12, 1959, Bill married LaVerne Lewis in Dove Creek. Bill owned and operated Texaco gas stations in both Dove Creek and Cortez. He also worked for many years in the Uranium mines. Bill was a devoted member of the Montelores Baptist Church and he was instrumental in the construction of the new facility. During the construction period there were not many days that Bill wasn't at the site. In his free time, Bill enjoyed woodworking and caring for his yard. He was very proud of his fishpond. He also got much happiness from growing flowers for his wife, LaVerne. Surviving Bill are his wife of 49 years, LaVerne Weaver of Cortez; his children, Prentina Coker and husband, Shane Baughman of Dove Creek, and Kirk Weaver of Cortez; his grandchildren, Dallas Coker and wife, Sarah of Fort Collins, Colo., Prentael Coker of Cortez, Skylor Coker of Fort Collins, Cole, Case and Kiera Baughman of Dove Creek; his great-granddaughter, Alyssa Jade Coker of Fort Collins, Colo.; and his brother-in-law, Orville Lewis and wife, Arveta of Bloomfield, N.M. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Carl, Carlton, and Bobbie Weaver. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O.
