Celebration of Life for Cortez resident, William Clarence Lemons will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 pm on Thursday, December 17 at the Cortez Recreation Center. Bill was born on February 4, 1934 in Garvin County, Okla. the son of Emmett Orin and Lola Effie (Johnson) Lemons. Bill passed away on December 14, 2015 at Southwest Memorial Hospital, Cortez at the age of 81. Bill married Maggie Lue Clark on February 2, 1958 in Nucla, Colo. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In 1976 Bill graduated from Oklahoma University with a Bachelor of Business Studies. He worked for many years in the electric power industry within the states of Colorado, Oklahoma, Alaska and Illinois. Bill was a woodworker, wildflower enthusiast, an amateur photographer, amateur archeologist, and was very proud of his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Maggie of Cortez; his children, Doe Millican (Joe) of Waxahachie, Tex., Renee Lemons of Cortez, Jeff Lemons (Debbi) of Helena, Mont. and Kara Goodwin of Cortez; his seven grandchildren, Adrienne Hausler (Shale), Damon Millican (Jules), Mikala Millican (Zach Taylor), Jami Tso (Kye), Alex Goodwin (Jessica), Laci Lemons and Jessa Lemons; his three great grandchildren, Rylee Hausler, Mason Burks and Charleigh Burks; and his brother, Ray Lemons of Canon City, Colo. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Lola May Tovrea, Thelma Tomlinson, Dale Lemons, Don Lemons, June Hawkins, Faye Yardley and Mancel Bishop.
