William Bill Bruce White passed away peacefully at the Vista Grande Care facility in Cortez on August 13, 2017. Bill was born September 26, 1951, in Casper, Wyoming to Eli Clinton White and Louise Ann (Ort) White. After moving to Durango as a child, Bill completed all of his primary education in Durango graduating from Durango High School. After completing some study at Brigham Young University, he then served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in London, England. Bill went on to study respiratory therapy, a career he continued for approximately 40 years working for various institutions in Utah and Colorado. Additionally, Bill spent his lifetime sharing his knowledge with those around him. Since he started teaching in Cortez 30 years ago, he has taught classes in CPR, First Aid, Advanced Life Support, First Responder, Phlebotomy Lab Assistant, and EMT Intermediate, among other subjects. One of the Bills proudest moments as a teacher was when he was honored by the Montezuma County Emergency Medical Services Council for a lifetime of service in educating EMS professionals in this area. His expertise in teaching provided access to information that would otherwise be difficult and costly to obtain in a rural area. Bill enjoyed a deep love for trains; a hobby that he enjoyed his entire life. He also enjoyed oil painting. On Valentines day 1992, Bill met Kathryn Snyder for dinner on a blind date set up by friends. Seven months later, on September 17th, they would travel to Manti Utah where they were sealed for time and all eternity. He is preceded in death by his father Clint White, and brother Bob White. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, mother Louise, sister Janey Silver, 22 nieces and nephews, 67 great nieces and nephews, and several cousins, all of whom Bill loved deeply and visited as often as possible. Bill made it a point to attend most of their major life events. Internment has taken place at the Greemount Cemetery in Durango. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the LDS Stake Center located at 2 Hilltop Cir. in Durango, Colorado. The family will be available for brief visits starting at 9:00 a.m. Condolences can be sent to P.O. Box 58, Cortez, CO 81321.
