WILFRED WILLIAM MICHAELS Funeral services for longtime Mancos resident Wilfred William Michaels will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 23 at Mancos First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Burton will officiate. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. at the church. Wilfred was born on September 30, 1919 in Mancos the son of William and May Edna (Molenaor) Michaels. He passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 90. A rancher his whole life, Wilfred loved his work. Working the land and raising cattle kept him busy throughout the whole year. Surviving Wilfred are his daughters-in-law, Grace Saltsgaver of Dolores, and Gladys Onyet of Casper, Wyo.; his grandchildren, Sherry Payne and husband, Bob of Mancos, Steve Saltsgaver of Dolores, Rusty Saltsgaver and wife, Kathy of Riverton, Wyo., and Randy Saltsgaver of Cortez; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Norma Saltsgaver Michaels. Memorial contributions may be made in Wilfred’s name to the American Cancer Society.
