Wilfred Carl "Wil" Valtakis

WILFRED CARL "WIL" VALTAKIS Memorial Mass for Dove Creek resident Wilfred Carl "Wil" Valtakis will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Reverend Pat Valdez, C.R. will officiate. Wil was born July 18, 1946 in Oakland, Calif. the son of Avongonlon and Rose Mary (Purdum) Valtakis. He passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the age of 70. Wil attended the University of California, Berkeley and then went on to graduate from the University of California, Davis. On October 13, 1986 Wil married Julie Ann Donovan in Vacaville, Calif. He worked for 35 years with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Wil loved to collect stamps and coins, he was an avid John Wayne fan and he enjoyed cutting wood and attending auctions. Surviving Wil are his wife, Julie Valtakis of Dove Creek; his children, Virginia Kegg of Susanville, Calif. and Chip Valtakis (Rachal) of Vacaville, Calif.; his grandchildren, Will Valtakis III, John Kegg, and Lukas Kegg; and by his siblings, Georgia Brewer of Redding, Calif., Katie Taylor of Valley Springs, Calif., and Larry Valtakis of Littleton, Colo. Wil was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Pete Valtakis. Memorial contributions may be made in Wil Valtakis' name to the Dolores County Senior Center.
