Waneta Pearl Martin Waneta Pearl Martin, age 90, passed away on February 27, 2017 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez. Waneta was born to R. R. Hollen Sr. (Bob) and Marie Hollen on March 4, 1926 in Tribune, KS. In 1927, the family moved to Alberta, Canada where they farmed and raised cattle. When Waneta's grandparents and some of her uncles and aunts moved back to the U.S., her family did the same. They moved to Old Ackman, CO in 1934. She has lived in the Cortez area ever since then. She worked in San Juan Dental Clinic until she retired in 1996. Waneta had a love of sewing and an even greater love of quilting. Family members and friends were showered with gifts of quilts, pot holders, placemats, table runners, and much, much more. She loved her family and was generous to anyone in need. Waneta is survived by her two children, Keith Steve Anderson (Monica) of Highland Village, TX and Cheryl Floyd (Paul) of Cortez, by three sisters, Velma Hollen, Bessie White, and June Bertram all from the Cortez area, by five grandchildren, Brandon Lucius (Alice), Morgan Hinton, Micah Hinton (Jessica), Shawn Anderson (Jennifer), and Stephanie Rudisill (Preston), seven great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Delbert Hopper and Oscar Martin, two brothers, Howard Hollen and Jr. Hollen, and three sisters, Roberta Hollen, Jean Hollen, and Ruth Dewell. A memorial service will be held at Montelores Baptist Church on March 9, 2017 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her name to Hospice of Montezuma.
