Walter Edward Winburn

WALTER EDWARD WINBURN Memorial services for long time Cortez Resident, Walter Edward Winburn will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Walter was born November 22, 1934 in Summerton, Ariz., the son of Oscar and Leatha Nora (Jones) Winburn. He passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. Walter married Dorothy Lee Ray in Yuma, Ariz. on July 10, 1954 and they enjoyed over fifty-two wonderful years together. He was great father, grandfather and an attentive, loving husband and all-around great guy. He was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation as a civil engineering technician and enjoyed golfing and bowling in his leisure time. Surviving are his beloved wife, Dorothy; his son Michael Neil Winburn of Dolores; daughter Lea Tom and husband, Wes; and granddaughter, Ashley Marie Witcher all of Escondido, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Melda Von Wilson. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Walter Winburn with the Church of Christ, 631 E. Montezuma Ave., Cortez.
