VONNIE LEE "PICK" PICKERING Funeral services for former area resident and current Rawlins, Wyo. resident Vonnie Lee "Pick" Pickering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Vonnie Lee Pickering, age 83 was born in Bethel, Okla. on April 11, 1933 to Robert Benjamin and Pearl Ready (Rolls) Pickering. Pick passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 in Rawlins, Wyo. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dee Pickering; parents, Robert Benjamin Pickering and Pearl Ready (Rolls) Pickering; sister, Iva Mae; and brothers, James, Clifford and Calvin. Pick is survived by his siblings, Roma Lee, Gert and Wayne; his children and their spouses, Rick & Nita, Rhoda & James, Teri & Bob, John & BettyJo; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Tay, Alyssa, Sandra, Daniel, Doug, Leah, Gage, Taner and Baley; along with 13 great-grandchildren. Pick honorably served on the USS Frank Knox DD 742 during the Korean War and was on active duty with the United States Navy from December 11, 1951 through December 7, 1955. Pick retired from Rohr Industries after 31 Years of service. Once retired he and Dee enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting and eventually settled in Mancos, CO where they held many family reunions and fun times.
