Virginia Nadine (Turner) Daniels (March 25, 1940 – September 2, 2019) resident of Vista Grande Nursing Home in Cortez passed from this earth on Monday, September 2, 2019.
Virginia was born in a cabin at Cedar Point Utah and spent a good part of her life in the Cedar Point, Dove Creek, Monticello, and Cortez areas. She graduated from High School in Dove Creek at Dolores County High School and completed LPN training in Durango, Colorado.
It was in Monticello, Utah where she met the love of her life, Walter G. Daniels Jr. who, at that time was in the Army. They married and moved to Murfreesboro, NC where their two children, Glenda and Chad were born. Later, as the children got bigger, they moved back to Dove Creek Colorado where they raised their children. After Walter’s death the family moved to Cortez where Virginia made her home until her death.
Virginia was the eldest of four children born to M.C. and Etta Mae (Poff) Turner. She was preceded in death by her parents, M.C. and Etta Mae Turner; husband, Walter G. Daniels Jr.; a sister, Joyce Turner; and a nephew Matthew Heil. Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her children Glenda Daniels, and Chad Daniels (Jessy); Grandchildren, Aeriel Daniels, Nathan Daniels, and Jonathan Daniels; brother Melvin Turner and sister Marilyn (Turner) Heil (Ken); numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and others she considered family. Virginia excelled as a nurse, care giver, hospice worker, teacher, grandmother, and friend.
Virginia touched the lives of many people with her generosity and love. She will be missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend her service at Ertel Funeral Home 42 N. Market St at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 7. Graveside services will follow in the Dove Creek Cemetery.
