VIRGINIA B. McCUTCHEON
Virginia Belle McCutcheon was born on July 28, 1922, in Santa Paula, California, to Wells Lyle and Mable Luella (Crawford) Taft. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, in Cortez, Colorado, at the age of 101. This was 10 years and 1 day after the passing of her husband of 73 years, Earl Madison McCutcheon. They met in high school in Santa Paula and married just before Virginia graduated. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Virginia worked in the oil production industry for most of her working life and retired from Unocal after 30 years spent in various positions. She was an active member of the Petroleum Production Pioneers. She was proud to have begun her career working in the historic Union Oil building in Santa Paula. She was also an avid fan of the Los Angeles area pro sports teams, which carried over to any sport played by the Grandchildren. She never missed one of their games. Virginia and Earl eventually moved to Cortez where the Great-Grandchildren grew from peewee sports through High School, and again they never missed a game.
During these years, they had two children, Virginia Earleen Brock of Cortez, and Earl Madison McCutcheon, Jr. (Syd) of Solvang, California. Then 5 Grandchildren followed: Cris (Michelle) Brock of Cortez; Andy (Cherrie) Brock of Cortez; Julie (Robert) Kehr of Cortez; LE McCutcheon (Par Hagberg) of Vancouver, Washington; and Jill McCutcheon of Solvang, California. Later she was also blessed with 11 Great-Grandchildren, then 22 Great-Great Grandchildren. All of this family survives Grandma Mac.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James and Gene; husband, Earl; and son-in-law, John Brock.
Date of interment will be determined later.
