VIRGINIA MARIE JESSUP FULKS Memorial services for longtime Arriola resident Virginia Marie Jessup Fulks will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Virginia was born on September 25, 1918 in Mancos, Colo. She was the first born child of Richard Earl and Ollie Ann (Meadows) Jessup. She passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the age of 91 at Vista Grande Inn Nursing Home in Cortez, Colo. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Fulks; her siblings, Richard Jessup Jr., and Irene H. Baer; her youngest son, Daniel Fulks; and her great-grandson, Brandon Robinett. Survivors include, her son, Steve Fulks and wife, Betty of Cortez; her daughters, Virginia Reed of Arriola, Dorothy Fulks and partner, Marsha Miller of Webb City, Mo., Susie Miller and husband, Jerrel of Moody, Mo.; and former foster daughter, Tracy Vicenti of Farmington, N.M. Missing their Grandma are Rena (Beth) Kenworthy, Rhoda Bryan, Darren Fulks, Kelley LaRue, Brian Fulks Kruse, Jarrett Miller, Trina Miller Stokes, Destry and Claudia Miller, and Justin T. Fulks. Virginia has seven great-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Virginia’s father was an only child, but her mother was one of seven siblings, and Virginia loved spending time with her aunts and uncles and McElmo cousins. She was “Jimmie” to her Meadows relatives and “Jenna” to the Fulks side of the family. Virginia always recalled fondly the early years of her marriage when she and Lloyd lived on a farm at Beulah, using coal lamps and Lloyd hauling their water from the big ditch every evening. They moved to Arriola to be closer to a grade school for Steve and Virginia Lynn and lived there until 1985 when they retired to Truth or Consequences, N.M. Virginia was a Jehovah’s Witness for over 50 years. She loved her family; she loved to study the Bible, but also vitamins and natural remedies and herbs, anything she deemed to be worthwhile. She loved to garden, raising flowers even in the desert of New Mexico. Besides the above survivors, Virginia leaves many friends.
