VIRGINIA MARIE COPPINGER Funeral services for lifelong area resident, Virginia Marie Coppinger will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Virginia was born April 5, 1927 in Nebraska the daughter of B Slade and Helen (Hite) Slade. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the age of 81. On March 10, 1945 Virginia married Clyde Alvin Coppinger in Aztec, N.M. Together they shared 57 years of marriage before Clyde's death in 2003. Virginia was a devoted mother to her two children, Roger and Barbara. She greatly enjoyed time spent with her family. Virginia loved the outdoors and camping. She enjoyed keeping her hands busy with crocheting, handwork and tatting. Surviving Virginia are her two children, Roger Jay Coppinger of Dolores and Barbara White and husband, Larry of Show Low, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Victoria White and Christopher White; two sisters, Marjorie Coppinger and husband, Harold of Cortez and Mary Lou Hines and husband, Malcom of Casper, Wyo.; and her niece, Wanda Coppinger of Cortez; as well as by many other nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Virginia Coppinger to Vista Grande Inn Alzheimer's Fund, 680 E. Hospital Drive, Cortez.
