VIRGINIA D. “NANNY” LANCASTER Funeral services for former longtime Cortez resident, Virginia D. Lancaster will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Virginia was born October 16, 1925 at Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Charlie Nelson and Delphia Irene (Freeman) Douglas. She passed away in Chandler, Ariz. on Monday, April 25, 2005 at the age of 79. Those left to honor Virginia’s memory are her devoted daughter, Debbie Lynn Fowler of Chandler; her mother, Delphia Douglas; five grandchildren, Michalle Limon and husband, Lou, Damon Lancaster, Christina Nyhof and husband, Brent, Destri Wilsey and husband, Matt, and Jami Fowler; four precious great-grandchildren, Coltyn John Nyhof, Payton Michalle Limon, Chandler Douglas Wilsey, and Caitlyn Rylee Nyhof; sisters, Terry Lynn Hartvigson and family, Carolee Salmans and family; brothers Rick and Dexter. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 55 years, Fred P. Lancaster; her dearly-loved son, Douglas Lee; her father, Charlie Nelson Douglas; siblings, Alene and Tommy; and her angelic great-granddaughter, Ryan Michalle Limon. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Virginia Lancaster with the Doug Lancaster Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Gerald Howe, 812 Balsam Avenue, Cortez.
