Violet Carrie "Vi" Olin

VIOLET CARRIE “VI” OLIN Violet Carrie “Vi” Olin was born on April 28, 1917 in Cortez the daughter of George and Carrie Kate (Koppenhafer) Scheuerman. She passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at her home in Cortez. Vi was 88 years old. Vi graduated from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Denver. She went on to have an extensive nursing career. She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in California for a time; and at one point managed the old Johnson Hospital. She also worked for several area health care facilities. These included the Rico Clinic, Telluride Clinic, the Vista Grande Nursing Home, and the Southwest Memorial Hospital. Surviving Vi are her children, Rex Olin, Clifford Olin, and Xenia Olin all of Cortez; her grandchildren, Justin Olin and wife, Sheridan of Cortez, Katie Gribnitz and husband, Kenneth of Tulsa, Okla., and Kenny Smith Olin of Cortez. Four great-grandchildren also survive Vi. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kenneth Sidney Olin; and her siblings, Rose Sand, Lillie Frazier, Carl Scheuerman, Ruby Koenig, and Daisy Scheuerman. No services have been planned at this time. Memorial contributions can be made in Vi’s name at Dolores State Bank.
