VIOLA M. SENA Funeral Mass for longtime Mancos resident, Viola M. Sena, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 7 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Ertel Chapel and Rosary services are set for 7 p.m. that evening. Viola was born January 19, 1931 in Lyden, N.M. the daughter of Jose Sostenes and Maria Fortunata (Romero) Sena. She passed away at Valley Inn Nursing Home in Mancos on April 3, 2011 at the age of 80. At the age of 17, Viola began working at the Diamond Match Factory. She went on to spend most of her career as a housekeeper at Mesa Verde National Park. In 1996 Viola retired from cleaning and began enjoying time spent sewing and reading. She was a talented carpenter and she enjoyed yard work. Viola was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church and she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Surviving Viola are her nieces and nephews, Linda Bateman and husband, Jim of Farmington, N.M., Mona Hannah and husband, Junior, Ida Velasquez of Mancos, Larry Sena and wife, Maxine of Layton, Utah, Gloria Garcia and husband, Johnny of Mancos, Chris Garcia and husband, Ernie of Aztec, N.M., Max Sena and wife, Rhonda of Ogden, Utah, Anita Sena of Cortez, Jose S.R. "Robert" Sena and wife, Erma of Grand Forks, N.D. and Terry Sena of Mancos; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brothers, Joe, Manuel, and Ernest Sena.
