VIOLA BEATRICE MARTIN Funeral services for former Dove Creek resident, Viola Beatrice Martin will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at Dove Creek First Baptist Church. Viola will be laid to rest next to her husband, Paul Martin at Dove Creek Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Viola was born April 2, 1919 in Paris, Texas the daughter of Lawrence and Eulah (Briggs) Jackson. She passed away at Life Care Center of Evergreen on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the age of 89. In 1936, Viola married Paul Martin in Monticello, Utah. Viola had a wonderful bird collection and she treasured time spent with her family. Her grandchildren brought her life much joy. Surviving Viola are her children, Roger Martin of Littleton, Colo., Judy Martin of Terrell, Tex., and Paula Hancock and husband, Lester of Pharr, Tex.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her siblings, Hubert Jackson and wife, Lydia of Salinas, Calif., Truman Jackson and wife, Judy of Reno, Nev., and Imogene Utley and husband, Norman of Cortez. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Paul Martin in 2003. Memorial contributions may be made in Viola's memory to the Dove Creek Ambulance Fund.
