Vinnie Louise Overton

VINNIE LOUISE OVERTON Vinnie Louise Overton was born on December 15, 1921 in Gatesville, Tex. the daughter of Robert Luther and Vinnie Jewell (Brown) Whaley. She passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. On July 4, 1941, Louise married Winford Howell "W.H." Overton. Louise devoted 18 1/2 years as Postmaster. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through a lengthy illness. She loved to garden, fish, crochet and listen to gospel music. Louise loved taking drives in the mountains and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her life much happiness. Surviving Louise are her children, Carole Woodmancy of Dolores, Cheryl Ward of Dolores, Janet Overton of Cortez, and Bill Overton and wife, Natalie of Gallup, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, W.H. Overton; her daughter, Linda Fulton; and her siblings, Billye Dot Ashkar, and Harvey Whaley. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
