VICTOR F. POLICH Military graveside services for Victor F. Polich, currently of Cortez and formerly of Grants, N.M., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 11 at Grants Cemetery. Vic was born September 5, 1919 in McGaffey, N.M. the son of Frank and Dorothy (Estra) Polich. He passed away at Vista Mesa Retirement Center in Cortez on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the age of 91. On July 3, 1940, Vic married Lila Mae Parsons. The couple shared 61 years of marriage before Lila�s death in September 2001. Vic proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from June 24, 1944 to December 8, 1945. At the time of his discharge he held the rank of Seaman First Class. A hard working man, Vic worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 50 years, many of those years as a conductor. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving Vic are two sons, Ken Polich and wife, Janey of Cortez and Lonnie Polich and wife Jane Ann of Belen, N.M.; six grandchildren, Levi Polich, Koy Polich, Kyle Polich, Kristi DePauli, Kevin Polich, and Kathy Chavez; by 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Preceding Vic in death were his wife, Lila Polich; four brothers and one sister; and by his parents. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Victor Polich with Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez.
