Vernon Summa

VERNON SUMMA Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Vernon Summa will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 3 at the Towaoc Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Vernon was born July 20, 1967 in Cortez to Steven Weeks Summa and Betty (Benally) Summa. He passed away at his Towaoc home on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the age of 45. An outgoing person, Vernon enjoyed hunting and traveling and really enjoyed "Cruisin" with friends and family. He spent his time listening to music and attending Pow Wows. Vernon was devoted to the grandkids and loved babysitting. Surviving Vernon is his only child, Mitchelle Summa of Towaoc; by his siblings, LaVerna Summa, Vera Summa, Lena Summa all of Towaoc, Richard Summa and wife, Andrea of Mescalero, N.M., Linda Summa of Dallas, Tex., Kathryn Summa, Mary Summa, Toni Dell McCook and husband, Brian, and Gloria Summa all of Towaoc; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his father and mother; by his wife, Camille Yazzie in July 2012; a baby son; and four siblings, Irvin Summa, Raymond Summa, Jennie Summa and Walter Coyote.
