VERNON LESTER STIEGELMEYER Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Vernon Lester Stiegelmeyer will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 12 at the Rock Springs Church, 32233 Hwy. 160, Cortez, Colo. with Pastor David Ramsey officiating. Vernon was born on June 14, 1924 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the son of Lester and Leona (Andrews) Stiegelmeyer. He passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 82. Vernon was an Elks Club member and enjoyed outdoor activities of gardening, fishing, horseback riding, hunting and camping. Surviving Vernon is his faithful companion Vivian Edwards of Cortez; his children, Scott Stiegelmeyer and wife, Kim, Paula Lively and husband, Gary of Dolores, Brad Stiegelmeyer and wife, Kathy of Arvada, Colo., Diane Herschberger and husband, Eddie of Mancos, Guy Stiegelmeyer and wife, Deanna of Cortez, Vern Stiegelmeyer and wife, Jeanie of Cortez, LeAnn Pendergast and husband, Chris of Cortez, and Adam Stiegelmeyer and wife, Pam of Grand Junction, Colo.; his sister Vyonne Rozier of Babbit, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and the mother of his children, Donna Stiegelmeyer, in 1994.
