Vernon "Bud" Chester Walker Jr.

Vernon “Bud” Chester Walker Jr. was born August 28, 1942, the son of Vernon Chester Walker Sr and Gertrude Arline (Fox) Walker. He passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his residence at the age of 80. Services will be held at a later date.

Bud was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona where he graduated from Scottsdale High and attended ASU for 4 years. After college he joined his father and brother in their construction business, Vernon Walker and Sons. He married the love of his life in June of 1964, and they moved to Lakeside, Arizona in 1966. Bud continued building houses with his father and brother, as well as guiding bear and lion hunts in AZ, NM and TX. He loved hunting with his hounds with a passion. While building houses in the country club in Pinetop, AZ, he met Marvin Redburn of Redburn Tire. Mr. Redburn had mentioned that he wanted to own a cattle ranch. In 1981, he moved his family to Dusty, New Mexico to manage a ranch. In 1982, Mr. Redburn talked Bud into moving to Stoner, CO to manage his ranch. This is where Bud managed Redburn Flying R Ranch for the last 40 years. His passion for ranching, hunting, and trapping was ever present in all that he did. His family will always remember him for his love, honesty, integrity, loyalty, faith, family and work ethic. Bud had many friends in this community and will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving Bud are his spouse, Patricia Walker of Dolores, CO; his children, Vernon Walker III (Brenda) of Grand Junction, CO and Jennifer Crouse (Brett) of Cortez, CO; his siblings, Arline Ryan (Carl) of Rogers, AR, Connie Larson of Pine, AZ, and Danny Walker of Pine, AZ; his grandchildren, Ashley Berry (Tyler) of Cortez, CO, Dustin Goodall (Rachael) of Dolores, CO, Cassie Bennett (Dylan) of Grand Junction, CO, Hayley Walker (Pat) of Grand Junction, CO and Addison Crouse of Cortez, CO; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Walker Sr and Gertrude Arline Walker; and his daughter, Deborah Louise Walker.
