VERA JEAN FRAKA Graveside services for longtime area resident Vera Jean Fraka will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8 at Fairview Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at the Pleasant View Fire Station. Vera was born on April 11 in Ucolo, Utah, the daughter of Harold Bernard and Vida Garetta (Price) Murray. She passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Mercy Regional Medical Center. On September 16, 1947, Vera married John Thomas Fraka. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Mildred Friendship Club. Vera transported patients to the American Cancer Society in Durango. Her family enjoyed her wonderful homemade rolls. She loved to garden and enjoyed a good joke. Vera loved to laugh. Surviving Vera are her children, Leslie Christenson and husband, Steve of Olympia, Wash., Claudia Applin and husband, Jimmy of Cortez; and Dianne Cossentine and husband, David of Sacramento, Calif.; her grandchildren, Eric Thomas, Kari Taylor, Jeff, Megan, and Joel Applin, and Anne Cossentine; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Fraka; her daughter, Mary Sue Halsey; and her siblings, Joe Murray, Irene McCall, and Lorena Dicken. Memorial contributions may be made in Vera’s name to the charity of your choice.
