VERA HOARD OLSON Graveside services for former long-time Cortez resident and current Taylorsville, Utah resident, Vera Hoard Olson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6 at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Vera Olson is dancing with her husband, Bob again. She passed away at the age of 94 in Salt Lake City, Utah in the company of her family. Vera was born June 5, 1917 in Bloomfield, Neb. the daughter of Emery and Carrie (Egge) Hoard. Bob and Vera married in 1935 and then moved from Burlington, Colo. to Cortez, where his family resided. They spent the next 53 years in the shadow of Ute Mountain, ranching and dancing together. After Bob's passing in 1989, Vera remained in Cortez for 15 years, scouring yard sales and collecting brass artifacts. Vera moved to Salt Lake City in 2004 to be closer to family, and she spent her final seven years enjoying family get-togethers, attending grandkids' sporting events, and getting her weekly exercise walking around Wal-Mart. Vera's life was filled with love, family and friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Charles Mundee; close family friends, Leona and Jerry Killen; grandson, Mike Mundee (Karie); granddaughter, Vickie Thomas (Ken); great-grandchildren, Sarah, Annie, and Jamie Thomas, and Steve, Brian, and Matt Mundee; sisters-in-law Audrey Ozborn and Ila Hazen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
