VELTA MAE BRYAN Graveside services for longtime Cortez resident Velta Mae Bryan will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7 at the Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Ed Hicks will be officiating. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Velta was born on November 29, 1922 in Cambria, Ill. the daughter of James and Edith (Stocks) Rodd. She passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 83. Family and friends called her “Fitch.” She was a dedicated homemaker who also helped her husband with Bryan Construction. She was an ardent church attendee who loved pets, collected dolls and was known for being a good cook. Surviving Velta are her children, Harold Dee Bryan, Jr. and wife, Verna of Dove Creek, Myrtha Lee Brossard and husband, Gary of Pueblo West, Colo., and Patsy Young of Denver, Colo. She leaves seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harold Dee Bryan; and her sister, Laverne 'Jack' Rodd.
