TROY LAWSON BOWLING Funeral services for lifelong Mancos resident, Troy Lawson Bowling will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 21 at the First Baptist Church in Mancos. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pastor Rick Gregory will be officiating. Troy was born on June 29, 1916 in La Madera, N.M. the son of Lawson and Ethel (Heath) Bowling. He passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Durango at the age of 88. As a young man he worked in his father’s coal mines and the Red Arrow min. He worked for the Colorado Highway Department for 35 years running their hot mix plant all over the state in summer, and plowing the mountain passes in the winter. Troy is survived by his brother, Richard (Ink) Bowling and wife, Donna of Cortez; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends in the Mancos area. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant sister, Helen; his sisters, Inez Halls, and Dorothy Lee. Troy was a quiet man in life but his presence will be missed.
