TRAVIS WAYNE “BUCK” TWILLEY Funeral services for Travis Wayne “Buck” Twilley a longtime resident of Cahone will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 29 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cahone Cemetery. Pastor Kenneth Hudgeons of the Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate. Buck was born Nov. 30, 1932 in Amherst, Texas the son of Jonnie Bee “J.B.” Twilley and Dovey Irene (Jeffery) Twilley. He passed away at his home in Cahone on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the age of 71. On Aug. 27, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Aztec, N.M., Buck married Shirley Felkins. Buck and Shirley were blessed with two boys, Tracy and Scott. Together Buck and Shirley shared 48 years of marriage. For many years Buck raised hay, wheat and beans on his farm. He gave his time to his community and the Dolores County serving as a County Commissioner for 16 years. In his free time he enjoyed metal sculpture. His greatest enjoyment, though, was watching his grandchildren play ball. Surviving Buck are his wife, Shirley Twilley of Cahone; sons, Tracy Twilley of Cahone, and Scott Twilley and wife, Laura of Cortez; five grandchildren, Braidy Twilley, Nikki Twilley, Katti Twilley, Brook Twilley and Rusty Twilley; one great grandchild, Kande Twilley Alvarado; and his brother, Chris Twilley of Hobbs, N.M.
