Thomas Coleman Tunnell

A celebration of life for Cortez resident Thomas C. Tunnell will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1304 East Empire Street, Cortez, Colorado on May 20, 2023 at 4 p.m. 

Tom was born May 16, 1958 in Lovington, New Mexico, the son of John C. Tunnell and Ethel Belle Tunnell. He passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 64. 

Tom joined in marriage with the love of his life, Selina, in June of 1979. His pride and joy was raising their three children, instilling in them his love of the outdoors. He had a heart of gold, was very generous and always ready to help anyone in need. He was very dedicated to his family and faith with his hope based on Jesus’s words at John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life.” 

Surviving Tom are his wife Selina M. Tunnell; his children Audra Hager (Matthew), Cory Tunnell (Cinda), and James Tunnell (Tara); his grandchildren Leland Vigil, Tommy Tunnell, Ronnie Belle Tunnell; and his siblings Angela Tunnell and John Tunnell (Patricia). 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents John and Belle Tunnell and his granddaughter Leilani Vigil.
