THOMAS EUGENE "TOM" COX II Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Thomas Eugene Cox II will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 17 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Tom was born on October 3, 1951 in Alameda, Calif. the son of Thomas Eugene and Sylvia Jean (Berardi) Cox. He passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at his home at the age of 61. Tom worked for Nielson Construction for several years then went back to ranching. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle. Surviving Tom are his companion, Penny; his sister, Jody Kuyrkendall and husband, Dennis of Boerne, Tex.; his nephew, Derick Kuyrkendall and family of Boerne, Tex.; and his niece, Tamra Lemon and family of Austin, Tex. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sylvia Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez.
