THOMAS ASA LYNARD “ABBA” TOM Funeral service for Towaoc resident Thomas Asa Lynard “Abba” Tom will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at The Chapel. Sister Lois Wooten will officiate. Interment will follow at the Towaoc Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Abba was born on April 6, 1975 in Cortez, the son of Raymond Tom and Lorna Root House. He passed away on Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 31. Abba enjoyed a good joke and having a good time. Many knew his as a comedian and his unique laugh was recognizable from anywhere. Abba liked to go camping, fishing, and hiking. He also enjoyed time spent riding horses, skateboarding and listening to rap music. He especially cherished time spent with his nephews. Surviving Abba are his parents, Raymond Tom and Lorna Root House, both of Towaoc; and his siblings, Warrnell Cuch, Jacalynn Colorow and husband, Ignacio, Radona Tom, Jessica Tom, Janesha House, Rico Lopez, Kyle Tom, Martina Tom, Shohana Tom, all of Towaoc, Ethelena Tom and Socorro Tom, both of Ft. Duchesne, Utah. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Thomas and Jessie House of Towaoc; his uncles, Ernest House and wife, Lorraine of Towaoc, Wilber Mills and wife, Florence of Ft. Duchesne, Utah, Jack House and wife, Carol, Blair House and wife, Darlene, Thomas House Jr. and wife, Fernanda, Kevin House and wife, Charlotte, Selwyn Whiteskunk, Rupert Whiteskunk, Jeffrey Whiteskunk, Alvin Root, Jerry House, Johnny House, Leon Collins, and Larry Collins Sr., all of Towaoc; his aunts, Emily Whiteman and husband, Darwin, Loma House and husband, Calvin, Beverly House, Helen Munoz, Marjorie Soto, and husband, Jesus, Vernita Kay Tom and husband, Ira, Gloria Tom, Rosalina Tom and husband, Rufus, Lorraine House and husband, Norman, Willa Whiteskunk, Tamara Wing and husband, Pat, Antoinette Porambo and husband, Kirt, and Tanis Lopez, all of Towaoc; his great-aunts, Ida Peog, and Mona Ketchum, both of Towaoc; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Abba was preceded in death by his sister, Thomasina Vanesha Lopez; his grandparents, Homer Tom and Lizzie Spencer Bancroft; and his great-grandfather, Chief Jack House.
