Susan Marjorie Paulson

Susan Marjorie Paulson was born on October 19, 1955 in Los Alamos, New Mexico, the daughter of John Gould Work and Marjorie Jean Stevens. She died at home surrounded by her family on August 15, 2023 at the age of 67.

Susan grew up with her cousins and grandparents on lakes and in the mountains of New Mexico. She moved to Cortez, Colorado as a teen, immediately making lifelong friendships. Susan was loved and adored by many. She started her family early, raising five children who loved her dearly.

She had a very fulfilling career in nursing that began at Dolores Medical under Dr. Merritt and Dr. Bostrom. Her favorite memories came from the OB ward at Southwest Memorial Hospital. She loved babies, children, animals and gardening. She was an amazing cook and hostess. Susan was the neighborhood "mom" and "grandma" to all, an incredible loving woman who will be sorely missed.

Surviving Susan are her husband of 42 years, Jerry Paulson of Cortez, CO; her children Jeanette Phillips of Cortez, CO, Richard Paulson (Shaydie) of Northglenn, CO, Jeffrey Paulson and Sara Paulson of Cortez, CO; her grandchildren Natasha Gordon, Raquel Lucero Schnell, Elizabeth Schnell and Bjorn Paulson; her siblings Steven Work of Riverton, WY, Kathy Bynum (Mark) of Joplin, MO, and Victoria Work of Pojaque, NM.

Susan was preceeded in death by her daughter Michelle Phillips Lucero, her grandson Samuel Gordon, and her parents.
