Memorial services for longtime Dolores resident Steven Donald Haley will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 7 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cortez. Inurnment will follow at the Lebanon Cemetery. Steve was born on October 9, 1935 in Durango, the son of Jesse LeRoy and Letitia Ann (Lane) Haley. He passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M. at the age of 81. Steve married Myrna Dolores Tim on July 7, 1957 in Grand Junction Colo. Steve was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and backpacking in the mountains. He also loved to ride motorcycles. Steve and Myrna were also accomplished square dancers, they enjoyed mushroom hunting, and gathering firewood to heat their home. For the last few years they have spent the winters in Arizona. Surviving Steve are his wife of 59 years, Myrna Haley of Dolores; his children, Mike Haley of Pine, Colo., Belinda Fry (Jerry) of Roseville, Calif., Patrick Haley (Christy) of Woodland, Calif., Deirdre Franklin (Albert) of Dolores, Colo., Tim Haley (Yasmin) of New Gisborne, Australia, and Jennifer Beckermeyer (Roger) of Cortez; his grandchildren, Allison, Amy, Erica, Emily, Joshua, Kyle, Lee, Spencer, and Haley; his step grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah, Rachel, Keen, Sean, John, Alaryss, and Seneca.; his great grandchildren, Emma, Brynnja, and Penelope.; his brother, Leonard Hawkes (Susie) of Illinois,; by two nieces, Sonja and Heather; and a nephew Trevor, that he raised, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Steven was preceded in death by his parents; by his siblings, Frances Haley, Kenneth Haley, Neil Haley, John Haley, and George DaLee. Memorial contributions can be made to the Seventh Day Adventist School Building Fund.
