STEVE HEMP ROOT Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Steve Hemp Root will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Towaoc Cemetery. Sister Lois Wooten will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Steve was born on September 26, 1930 in Towaoc, the son of Tom Root Jr. and Effie Hemp Root. He passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at San Juan Regional Hospital in Farmington, N.M. at the age of 76. Surviving Steve is his niece, Tonia V. Reyes and husband, David of Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents.
