SHIRLEY ANN KVASNICKA Memorial service and a potluck for lifelong Cortez resident Shirley Ann Kvasnicka will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Shirley was born August 15, 1946 in Cortez, Colo. the daughter of Victor Murdock and Elsie Florence (Wilson) Chaffin. She passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at her residence at the age of 70. Shirley married William Lawrence Kvasnicka on August 21, 1972 in Cortez. Shirley was active in many organizations such as Lewis Arriola PTO, Little League Board and the Yellow Jacket Ladies Club. Shirley loved her grandsons, fishing and camping. Surviving Shirley are her children, Larry Kvasnicka of Midland Odessa, Tex. and Shawn (Misty) Kvasnicka of Cortez; by her grandsons, Gavin Kvasnicka of Melbourne, Forida and Ty Kvasnicka of Carterville, Ill.; and her siblings, Leah (Ted) Fowler of B.C. Canada, Stanley (Lee) Chaffin of Phoenix, Ariz., Betty Sexton of Nashville, Tenn., Marie (Marty) Herr of Lancaster, Penn., Chan (Janice) Chaffin of Arriola, Colo.; Gary Chaffin of Arriola, Colo.; and by her sister-in-law, Lynn Chaffin of Montrose, Colo. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; her brother, Douglas Chaffin; by her sister-in-law, Kathy Chaffin; and brother-in-law, Earl Sexton. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirleys name to the Lewis-Arriola Fire Department, Asthma Association or Hospice of Cortez.
