Sherilyn Mcdaniel

September 24, 1957 — April 3, 2022

Sherilyn “Sheri” McDaniel, age 64, of Cortez, Colorado, passed away on April 3, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Sheri was born on September 24, 1957 in Delta, Colorado to Harlan and Shirley McDaniel, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Lance McDaniel and Kent McDaniel; nieces, Megan McDaniel and Cayla McDaniel Boese; and many aunts and uncles.
Sheri grew up in Cortez. She attended Montezuma County High School. Through her teen years she developed a love of both music and 4-H. She showed dogs and horses through 4-H. Sarge, her collie, was not very cooperative in the show ring, much to Sheri’s chagrin. She found an ideal partner in Flap, the standard poodle who Sheri showed for a couple of years. Sheri was an excellent musician. She was in the MCHS marching band and played clarinet, tenor saxophone, and guitar. Sheri’s Dixieland jazz on the sax was a treat for listeners.
Sheri worked locally at Mesa Verde Savings. She later moved to Denver where she worked at Bell Labs and many of Bell’s subsidiaries. Eventually Sheri moved back to Cortez to help care for our aging parents. She worked at Southwest Memorial Hospital. Sheri was a hard worker who cared about people.
Sheri was the rock of our family. She was a wonderful daughter. A great sister. A fabulous aunt. A fantastic friend. Sheri was simply an amazing human. She will be missed.
