SCOTT ELLIS WALTON Mass for lifelong Mancos resident Scott Ellis Walton will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 20 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Mancos. Rosary services have been scheduled for Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church. Scott was born the son of Harley and Marcheta E. (Smith) Walton on July 18, 1953 in Durango. He passed away at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M. on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the age of 57. Scott attended Mancos High School and graduated in 1971. He went on to Fort Lewis College in Durango where he earned his Bachelor degree in Biology. On June 4, 1977, Scott married Karleen Ann Bergmark in Durand, Wis. Scott loved the beauty of the outdoors and spending time hunting and fishing. He was a voracious reader and Scott enjoyed all aspects of the game of football. Spending time with his family brought Scott much joy. Surviving Scott are his wife of 33 years, Karleen Walton of Mancos; his children, Joshua Walton of Mancos and Tasha Walton of Denver, Colo.; his sister, Kim Lipe of Cortez; his brother’s wife, Jan Walton of Amarillo, Tex.; his sister’s husband, Keith Halls of Grants, N.M.; and a large extended family. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Jess Walton, Peggy Halls, Joe Walton, Todd Walton, and Lewt Walton. Memorial contributions may be made in Scott Walton’s name to Vectra Bank of Cortez.
