Sandra (Sandy) Maudeen Greenlee was born October 28, 1944, in Santa Paula, California, the daughter of Avery Burl Beaver and Lilly Lauvell (Smith) Beaver Hudson. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, November 16th at the age of 80.
Sandy married Garth Greenlee on December 14, 1989, in Bullhead City, Arizona. Early in their marriage they lived in Farmington, New Mexico but moved back to their home in Cortez in 1993 to be closer to her family. After moving home, she worked in the Montezuma County Treasurers office for 13 years and the last four years there she held the office of Montezuma County Treasurer. After retirement she loved being at home with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren and in her later years, her great grandchildren. Sandy’s family was her biggest passion in life, and she was prouder of being a "Grammy" than anything in the world.
Sandy also spent her later years as a tender caregiver to her mother who suffered a stroke and to her husband who is legally blind. She came to a strong faith in Jesus Christ, as she sacrificially gave of herself to care for her loved ones; and as she battled with cancer, her Lord was with her to carry her through the battle and then finally to carry her home.
Surviving Sandy are her husband, Garth; daughters Shannon (Charley) Williamson, Kelly (Rick) Oliver; grandchildren Keslie (Jeff) Kidd, Danna (Matt) Ruggles, Andrew (Kadee) Layton, Kenzie (Johnny) Harris, Chase (Madi) Suckla, Tanner Suckla; great grandchildren Scarlett Kidd, Aubree Ruggles, Kinley & Jett Layton, Kenny Harris, and Peyton Suckla, all of Cortez. She is also survived by her sister Janis (Frank) Abbey of Seymour, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don Beaver of Santa Maria, California and her beloved son, Judd Suckla, of Cortez.
