SAMUEL WILLIAM DUNNING Graveside inurnment services for lifelong area resident Samuel William Dunning will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Sam was born February 3, 1928 in Lakeview, Colo. the son of Frank and Cornelia (Nelson) Dunning. He passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango at the age of 88. Sam married Nadine Ashcraft on June 19, 1948 in Pomona, Calif. Sam served his country in the United States Army and belonged to the American Legion. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Sam also loved to spend time in his garden and taking trips to Lake Powell. Surviving Sam are his wife of 68 years, Nadine Dunning of Dolores; his son, Dale Dunning (Pamela) of Grand Junction, Colo.; his granddaughter, Kelly Ormsby of Fort Collins, Colo.; his great-granddaughter, Madeline Lightfoot of Fort Collins, Colo.; and by his nephew, Aubrey Constible of Helendale, Calif. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Guy Palmer, Alice Hayden, Emma Ferrell, and Maude Tate.
