RUTH ELLEN RIFFE Funeral services for longtime Dolores resident, Ruth Ellen Riffe will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 18 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Mr. Jeff Foster will officiate. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Ruth was born January 14, 1917 at in Trull, Colo., the daughter of John B. and Sadie (Ritzschke) Blandford. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the age of 89. Ruth married Dudley Dwain Riffe on June 30, 1949 in Central City, Colo. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. Ruth grew up in Routt County, Colo. and had many wonderful memories of her time spent there. She was a member of the Cortez Church of Christ. Ruth was a very family oriented woman. Camping and fishing were activities she treasured. Her family will attest she was a highly opinionated person, there was never much questioning how she felt about things. Ruth was a gifted crafter, she enjoyed crocheting and any project that allowed her to use her artistic ability. She had two special Chihuahua dogs that will miss her greatly. Surviving Ruth are her three daughters, Evonne Wofford and husband, Joe of Arriola, Linda Barry of Dolores, and Jacque Webb also of Dolores; and her daughter-in-law, Bernita Petry of Golden, Colo. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Kathy Wyatt, Debbie Hiett, Bill Petry, Mark Petry, Joe Wofford, Mike Wofford, Mandy Woosley, David Morris, Dale Morris, Justin Webb, Jared Webb, and Jeremy Webb; 16 great grandchildren; and her sisters, Mayme McElhiney of Fountain, Colo., and Charlotte Shaul of Craig, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dudley Dwain Riffe in January of 2006; her son, Bill Petry; and her siblings, Joseph, John, Rollie, Robert, George, and Anthony Blandford, and Katie Mathias and Babe Blomquist.
