RUTH ELLEN FERGUSON Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Ruth Ellen Ferguson will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 13 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Reverend Sam Thompson will officiate. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Ruth was born on January 28, 1926 in Eminence, Mo. the daughter of Ralph Ray and Maude May (Young) Randolph. She passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 83. On June 5, 1948, Ruth married Curtis Truman Ferguson in Aztec, N.M. She was a member of the V.F.W Auxiliary #5241 and the American Legion. Ruth worked at Cortez High School and Manaugh Elementary School as a cook supervisor. She loved needlework of all sorts. Ruth was a true homemaker and cook. Surviving Ruth are her husband of 61 years, Curtis Ferguson of Cortez; and her daughter, Barbara Ann Ebberts and husband, Ron of Egnar, Colo. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ronald C. Ebberts and Lori Ann Ebberts; her great-grandchildren, Preston, Freddie, Tyler, Triston, and Nathan Ebberts; and her siblings, Kenneth Randolph and wife, Dorothy of Dove Creek, Paul Randolph of Phoenix, Ariz., and Judy Lawson and husband, Benny of Clovis, N.M. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Bob Randolph.
