Russell Don Crites

Memorial services for lifelong resident, Russell Don Crites, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 25, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church. Darryl Johnson and Jonathan Bland will co-officiate. Russ was born on April 6, 1959 in Cortez, the son of Carl LaVern and Lois Jeanette Elliott Crites. Russ passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the age of 56. Russ graduated in 1977 from Montezuma-Cortez High School. On October 27, 1979 he married Twyla Louise Johnson at the First Assembly of God Church in Cortez. Russ spent 38 1/2 years delivering propane in the mountains of Colorado. He was a tournament bass fisherman, enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. Russ was also a talented pottery artisan. Russ is survived by his parents, Vern Crites of Cortez and Lois Crites of Dolores; his wife, Twyla Crites of Cortez; his children, Ben Crites (Marnita) of Mancos, Katie Soto (Juan) and Byron Crites all of Cortez; his sister, LaDawn Rogers (Les) of Cortez; his six grandchildren, Raul, Kiara, Santiago and Amaya Soto, and Tucker and Forrest Crites.
