RUBY LEE HAMPTON Funeral services for Cortez resident, Ruby Lee Hampton will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Matt Segebartt will be officiating. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Ruby was born on October 10, 1912 in Goose Creek, Tex. the daughter of David Norman and Delia (Dancer) Wilburn. She passed away at the age of 93 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home on Thursday, January 5, 2006. On May 10, 1936 Ruby married Harold LeRoy Hampton in Keene, Tex. Ruby was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her husband was the pastor of the Cortez Seventh Day Adventist Church from 1944 until 1947; Ruby was always his support. She will be remembered as and awesome caregiver and a very talented artist and musician. She was a great piano player. Surviving Ruby are her children, Harold L. “Hal” Hampton, Jr. and wife, Margie of Highland, Calif., and Donna Hagelgantz and husband, Thayne of Cortez. She leaves five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harold; as well as eight brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions can be made in Ruby’s memory to the Seventh Day Adventist School Fund.
