Roxie Joy Shipman

Joy Shipman, age 92 of Kremmling, Co., passed away on Saturday June 15th 2024. Born August 19,1931 in the small town of Riverton, Wyoming.  She moved to Colorado where she married Harold Shipman, May 15, 1947. They were married until the time of his passing in 2005.

Joy is survived by her son Michael Shipman and his wife Cindy, their 3 daughters and 12 grandchildren. Her daughter LaDawna Emch, her daughter and 3 grandchildren. 

Born Roxie Joy Hale, but she chose to go through life as simply “Joy”, and she lived up to that name everyday of her life. The “Joy” that she has brought to her family, and to all those that have had the privilege to know her is a gift. A gift that none of us will ever forget. 

The most important thing to Joy were her family and deep belief in her faith. Death was not something to fear, simply a deep beautiful sleep. It wasn’t the end, and it wasn’t the beginning, merely a moment in time before she would once again be reunited with those that she held so dearly in her heart. Her Mother Vera, whom she lost at a young age, her father Ward, who loved with all his heart. Bothers Johnnie and Joe, to make her blush and give her the best hugs ever. Her dear sister Cleopatra (Pat), whose faith and love was a shining light to all those that knew her. Her Nephew Billy Joe, whose wisdom and appreciation of life was contagious to all. Her husband of almost 60 years to keep her on her toes. And many others whose life was touched by hers.

To quote her great niece Katie a few years ago: “She truly has brought a lot of joy, I always have loved how loving, kind and joyful she is and always hoped to be like her. She has a heart of gold”. 

 We could all use a little Joy in our lives, and you will truly be missed by all.
