Ronald J. Cameron

March 10, 1961 — February 16, 2013

RONALD J. CAMERON Ronald J. Cameron was born on March 10, 1961, in Whittier, Calif., to Les and Jane Cameron. He went home to his Savior on Feb. 16, 2013, at the age of 51. Ron married Michelle on Nov. 14, 1981. The couple set up home in Anaheim, Calif., where they lived until September 1997. They were blessed with three children, Deryk, Daniel and Stacia. The Camerons moved to Montezuma County in 1997 to be closer to family, settling on the Frazier ranch in Lewis. Ron began his professional career as a truck driver, but quickly moved on to carpentry, which he continued in until his death. Skilled with his hands, there wasn't anything Ron couldn't do or fix. A fisherman to his core, Ron's passion was the water. While the mountains of Colorado worked their way into his heart, he never lost his love for the ocean. Known to his friends as "Captain Ron," his fish tales and stories of his time on the water, be they in California, Mexico or Southwest Colorado, were an ever present part of conversations, stories his friends and family loved to hear. Ron didn't recognize his need for the saving grace of Jesus Christ until later in life, finally turning from his sin to his Savior on Nov. 5, 2010. From that moment on, he was fervent in his relationship with Christ, committed to loving his family and friends in a more godly way and relying on his faith as the steadying force in his life. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Jane Cameron. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Deryk and Bri Cameron, Daniel and Sarah Cameron and Stacia Cameron; his brother and sister-in-law, Rich and Diana Cameron; niece, Gina Cameron; nephew, Chris Cameron; and the children he considered to be part of his family, Emily, Esther and Ben. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Arriola Bible Church. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christian Discipleship Center, 24826 Road L, Cortez, CO 81321.
