Roland Rudosky

Roland Rudosky December 1938 - April 2017 Roland was 78 when he passed away at his home in Surprise, Ariz. on April 15th. He was born in Boulder, Colo. to Joe and Mary Rudosky, his enthusiasm for life revolved around family, friends and golf. At the age of 11, Roland was hired as a caddy for Boulder Country Club and found his lifelong passion for golf. Roland excelled in playing football, golf and basketball during his years at Boulder and Longmont High School. In 1958 Roland enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He began his golf career in 1965 when he was hired as the Assistant Pro at Columbian Country Club in Dallas, TX. Roland would move on to become the Head Professional at various courses in the Southwest before retiring in 1997, as the PGA Pro at Conquistador Golf Course in Cortez, Colo. One of his many strengths was mentoring junior golfers and was successful in establishing Junior Golf Programs throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. Roland was a Lifetime Member of the PGA and achieved many accolades throughout his golf career, but one of his proudest moments was when he caddied for his son Micah, in the 2007 PGA Championship. Roland treasured the lifelong friendships he created wherever he lived, enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, riding his bike, landscaping, and was a staunch supporter of the NRA. He was generous, strong, entertaining, hardworking, and had a tough disposition, but a tender heart. Roland was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Floyd O'Connor; and his sister, Rosalie (Rudosky) Hagman. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra (Hoffmire) Rudosky; their children, Nicole Delzer (Jason McLeod) of Evanston, Ill., Angie Bennie (Jim) of Redding, Calif., and Micah Rudosky (Anett) of Cortez, Colo., Roland's sons, Roland von Beuningen, (Kerstin) of Lindau, Bavaria, Germany, Ronald Jung, of Longmont, Colo., Ralph Johnson (Melissa) of Wichita, Kan.; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Perlett and Sharon Leslie (Jack); three nephews, one niece; and his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. A "Celebration of Life" will be held for Roland at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 on the Conquistador Golf Course. The family would like to thank everyone who brought a smile to his face and to the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. Memorial contributions may be made in Roland's name the Junior Golf Program in care of Dolores State Bank.
